“CONNECT & INTERACT” WITH MALAYSIAN STUDENTS

USA AND UK

27 NOVEMBER – 8 DECEMBER 2017

I

would like to express my heartiest gratitude to the PPL for the

arrangement of this session. Meetings such as this is indeed a very good

platform for us to exchange views and ideas. Students sponsored by the

government are considered as precious investment for the future of our

beloved country, Malaysia.

To the students, it is a pleasure to have all of you here in this meaningful

event that symbolises and strengthen, the positive and symbiotic

relationship between the Government as your sponsors and the students.

Please make this as an avenue for sharing of knowledge, experience and

exchange of views with regards to issues of common interest and concern

in a more cordial and informal setting.

Malaysia under the leadership of YAB Prime Minister, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib

bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, has successfully positioned the country on the

right track. In fact, the country's economy grew at an impressive 6.2% in the

third quarter of this year, compared to 4.3% in the same quarter of 2016.

Pricewater HouseCoopers marks the country to become the 25th world

economic power with US$1.5 trillion in GDP by 2030. The World Bank has

also increased the nation's economic growth rate forecast this year to 5.2%

from 4.9% previously. The Finance Ministry forecasts the country's

economic growth this year between 5.2% to 5.7%.

Today, the Government has been moving to build networks, facilitate

services, preserve growth and focus on the success in forming unity and

harmony, to propel Malaysia as the High Income Advanced Economy by

2020. The successful implementation of the National Transformation Policy

which includes the ETP and GTP, and the 11th Malaysia Plan (RMK11),

which focus on delivering high-impact outcomes grounded on the capital

economy and the people's economy at an affordable cost through
