You have been given the privilege of being selected from thousands of

applicant for sponsorship from the Government of Malaysia. So you should

feel grateful and proud to have been the chosen one. You now hold a great

responsibility to return back and serve the country, to contribute in

preparing Malaysia as a developed country for the future. All of you should

appreciate this chance to excel yourself and contribute back to our

nation.You are here today not only because of your effort solely but you are

here today because of Malaysian’s trust.

Indeed there have been a certain few who breached the contract and

willing to pay the compensation after they graduated because they don’t

want or even couldn’t be bothered to serve and give back the country. Bear

in mind that no amount of money is enough to compensate the loss of

investment and talent. Love your country. You are the people of the country.

As government scholars, you are also responsible to follow the rules and

regulations set by the government. Please don’t tarnish the country’s name

by making baseless accusation or spreading malicious rumours about the

government and the country especially in the social media. Think before

you share.

In 2017, Malaysians celebrates 60 years as an independent nation. From

our humble and uncertain beginnings, we have grown and evolved

significantly into a prosperous modern economy and society. Beginning

with the era of the New Economic Policy (1971-1990), we stepped into the

2020 era (1991-2020). Now, we have to be ready to face the next 30 years.

The world in 2050 will be much different from the world today – what will

guide us to face this future? ‘Transformasi Nasional 2050’ or TN50 is the

brainchild of our beloved Prime Minister, YAB Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun

Haji Abdul Razak to plan for the future of Malaysia in the period 2020 to

2050. From the vision of becoming a developed nation, we should strive to

be amongst the top countries in the world in economic development,

citizen well-being and innovation.

This aspiration needs to be materialised and imbued by Malaysian citizens

themselves. The government want to plan TN50 with the people in mind.

So, as the people that is going to be part of TN50, you can share your views

and ideas, jointly set our objectives for the nation’s future. We need people
