After completing my Master of Science (Management) at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in 2014, I hoped to continue my academic journey. However, it took a decade before I finally found the courage to apply for the Public Service Department (PSD) Federal Training Award (HLP) in 2024. When I was not selected, the disappointment combined with stories of friends who withdrew from their PhD programmes after years of struggle due to the demanding and often isolating journey left me uncertain about trying again. My perspective changed completely when I was introduced to the APEL.Q pathway, a programme strongly championed in the public sector by YBhg.
