page 2 In Islam, time is not just something that passes. It is an amanah (trust) stated in Surah Al-Asr, “By time…”. This shows how significant time is. It is not just to be filled but to be used with purpose. In Public Sector today: Those who do not get WFH feel it is unfair. Those who do, still feel it is not enough. Regardless of the situation, we tend to focus on what is lacking. Yet we rarely step back to see the bigger picture. Every month, we receive our salaries without having to worry about: whether there will be a job next month; whether salaries can still be paid; how to sustain operations; or whether a business must shut down during a crisis While many outside face such uncertainties daily. Yet we continue to react. More concerning is when: we speak without reading; form opinions without analysis; and search for facts that support what we already want to believe Not because we do not know but because we do not pause to think. The truth is, the responsibility we carry as public servants is significant . Serving is not just about completing tasks, it is about sustaining a system. Every task, no matter how small, is part of a larger circle. If one part breaks the impact is not isolated, but affects the whole. Leaders make decisions based on the data and facts we provide. If the data is inaccurate decisions will be flawed. If the data is incomplete the impact will grow. For example: inaccurate reporting of essential supplies incorrect attendance records These are not just numbers. They shape policies, planning, and outcomes that affect many. In the end, this is not about who is right or wrong. It is about awareness. That everything we do, every report, every number, every small decision contributes to something larger than ourselves. Like time it moves forward whether we are aware of it or not. Time never runs but the way we live makes it feel that way and perhaps the next time we say, “time flies“, we will realise time was never lost. It is how we choose to use it that gives it meaning.
