In fact, travelling has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was only one month old , my late mum took me on my very first trip. A flight from Malaysia to Singapore . That was the beginning of a family tradition. Every school holiday, we would travel somewhere new, discovering different places, cultures and experiences together. Travelling soon became something that felt natural to me. Airports, boarding passes and new destinations were simply part of growing up. When I turned eighteen, I decided it was time to try travelling on my own. At first, my dad was understandably hesitant. Like many parents, the thought of their child exploring the world alone can be worrying. But eventually he agreed with one very specific condition. Whenever he called, I had to answer the phone immediately. The phone could only ring three times . If it rang more than three times without an answer, he jokingly said he would come and fetch me back immediately. Alhamdulliah, that never happened. Over the years, travelling has taught me many things, about people, cultures, perspectives and the diversity of our world. But today’s story is not really about my travels. It is about something that has made travelling possible for centuries. Maps. The First Map of the World
