In the methods of prevention, MCMC’s launched ‘Sebenarnya.my’ as the one-stop center in confirming the authenticity of news and information. The platform actively spread awareness on the impact and consequences of spreading fake information to the public. It is one of the continuous efforts by MCMC in ensuring ethical use of Malaysia’s cyber domain. This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by MCMC in addressing the fake news in Malaysia. Fake news in social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and portals has caused a major concern towards political, economic and social. It also can influence the public opinion and create negative perception towards the government and society. OBJECTIVES OF THE RESEARCH This study will focus on the following: 1. To identify MCMC major challenges in addressing fake news in social media; 2. To determine the key factors that potentially overcome the challenges; and 3. To propose the best strategies and actions in addressing fake news in Malaysian social media landscape. ANALYSIS AND FINDINGS To analyze the cause of the problem, the method used is an Ishikawa diagram which also defines as cause and effect as a visualization tools in categorizing the essential cause of problem in order to identify the root causes. This diagram has been used for this research is to identify the causes and effect of MCMC challenges in addressing the fake news in Malaysia. The categories that been highlight are Legal, People, Social Media, Agency and Technology. This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by MCMC in addressing the fake news in Malaysia.
