This enables the public to acquire in-depth understanding of issues and public policies. One of which is the Public Service Department’s division; Post-Service Division’s Facebook page. The page is seen as using narratives that have been successful in engaging with the public as well as elaborating in- depth procedures, information regarding the calculation of pension, assistance in the occurrence of death either during service or post-service, terms and conditions to calculate the Golden Handshake and other post- service related information. All of the information was written in both informal and formal languages but informal language is seen to be more frequent. The administrator of the page provided a two-way communication with the public where engagements in the form of public comments were replied by the administrator accordingly with informal language that is more inviting for the public. Another interesting finding is the semantic representation embedded in speeches of the honourable Prime Minister that were carefully tailored and drafted by Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohamad; Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister. All of which managed to capture the hearts of the public. The overall semantic representation of the context verbally; where precise use of diction / lexicons that accentuate and encapsulate the meaning of “a sincere, caring government” enhanced with the cool and “fatherly” manner has proven to successfully touch the hearts and minds of the nation as a whole.
