Even though the previous administration has promised to legislate the gig economy with a view to protect and offer shield with respect to the livelihood, health-care and long-term employment rights of the gig worker, however due to a change in political administration and current prevailing political impasse, it is sorely imperative now for both the Attorney General Chambers of the Prime Minister`s Department together with the Ministry of Human Resources to pick-up the cudgels and mandatorily ensure that the Bill towards legislating the gig economy see the light of day and debated in Parliament without undue delay when it next convenes. This prompt action would ensure the government is seen in good stead in the eyes of both the displaced and current workforce especially when the nation is dastardly facing
