To the ingenious gig worker, it comes as no surprise to discover that some of them would even cobble together an income by working together a few gig assignments at once to further buttress their income. The dynamic nature of the gig economy makes it more advantageous and beneficial for multi skilled employees to be resourceful in supplementing their income. Other than gaining traction all over the employment world and contributing towards a nation`s Gross Domestic Product, the gig economy also assists by contributing towards levelling the unemployment curve by creating various employment opportunities. As elaborated, the gig economy does exhibit both positive and negative attributes, mutually to the employer as well as to the gig worker. Without a measure of doubt, the gig economy does provide a lot of flexibility, income opportunities as well as prospects that leads to a conducive work-life integration that most employees desire. The superlative part on a gig worker is that it provides an autonomy over the worker themselves and the incumbent can continuously reform their working environment so to supplement their income continuously. But, on the other hand, it also has its litany of negative attributes that lingers along its shadow. Chiefly among them is that it lacks the long-term security and health benefits that most employees desire. Here, it will be incumbent on the gig worker to plan their own career paths, security, and health benefits if they intend to stay in the industry on a long-term basis. As gig employees are usually unprotected by sufficient legislation towards ensuring their rights and economic security, this has allowed for their contracts to lack entitlements such as those inherent in the traditional employment scenario. To add insult to injury, presently in Malaysia, there is no legislations under the current labor laws safeguarding the interests of a gig worker.
