To set the context, it begins by highlighting the importance of institutional trust in a nation's development and drawing attention to the political landscape in Malaysia in 2018. The article then proceeds to provide an in-depth analysis of institutional trust, referring to relevant literature and scholarly works. It explores the various factors that influence institutional trust and introduces the framework established by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to better understand this concept. Furthermore, the article examines the best practices adopted by several countries in their efforts to rebuild and strengthen institutional trust. The central focus of this article lies in mapping the MADANI strategy for the pillar of trust, specifically in an institutional context. It elucidates how public service institutions can play a vital role in actualizing the aspirations of trust by outlining a comprehensive plan of action. It emphasises the role of public service institutions in working towards the realisation of this pillar and provides valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders seeking to build and maintain trust in an institutional context.
