Varia Ranah - Penerapan Konsep Malaysia MADANI Dalam Perkhidmatan Awam 2023

147 VARIA RANAH 2023 Malaysia MADANI: Promote Civic Consciousness, Unity and Social Justice in Public Service In conclusion, diversity and inclusion training is essential for promoting civic consciousness, unity, and social justice among public servants. By equipping public servants with the knowledge and skills to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, we can create more inclusive and equitable public services that meet the needs of all members of society. C. Transparency and accountability Transparency and accountability are critical components of good governance, and they can significantly impact promoting civic consciousness, unity, and social justice among public servants (Das & Rahman, 2021; Ebrahim & Brinkerhoff, 2022; Sipe & Bryson, 2021). When public servants are transparent and accountable, they demonstrate a commitment to serving the public interest, which can help build trust and confidence among community members. Transparency promotes civic consciousness among public servants by increasing awareness of government activities and decisions (Sæbø & Andersen, 2022). This is supported by a study by Han and Song (2021), highlighting that when public servants are transparent about their actions, they provide citizens with the information they need to participate in democratic processes and hold their representatives accountable. This can lead to greater civic engagement and awareness of government activities, strengthening civic consciousness and promoting social cohesion. Besides, Ruiz-Rufino and Delgado-Casas (2021) emphasize that transparency and accountability are critical components of good governance and can promote social justice among public servants by ensuring that public services are accessible and equitable for all members of society. When public servants are transparent about their decision-making processes and held accountable for their actions, they are likelier to make fair and equitable decisions. In addition, public officials need to be transparent and accountable in their decision-making processes to build trust and legitimacy among citizens, particularly those from historically marginalized communities (John & Mergel, 2021). In conclusion, transparency and accountability are essential for promoting civic consciousness, unity, and social justice among public servants. Public servants can demonstrate their commitment to serving the public interest and build trust and confidence among community members by being transparent about their actions and being held accountable for their decisions. This can lead to greater civic engagement, stronger communities, and a more just and equitable society. CONCLUSION The MADANI initiative in Malaysia aims to promote civic consciousness, unity, and social justice within the public service. This initiative has several benefits for the Malaysian public service and society. Promoting civic consciousness can lead to civil servants who are more aware of their roles and responsibilities as public servants and can improve the accountability and transparency of the public service, leading to better decision-making and service delivery. It can also improve citizen engagement, as civil servants, aware of their civic responsibilities, are more likely to engage with citizens respectfully and effectively. Next, promoting unity within the public service can lead to a more cohesive and collaborative government. Civil servants who are aware of the importance of unity are more likely to work together effectively and address the needs and concerns of all communities, leading to better policy and program development and more efficient use of resources.
