VARIA RANAH 2023 Empowering Women Leadership In Malaysia MADANI Way: Government Sector ii) Female Labour Force Participation Rate According to Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), the overall Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) in Malaysia was ranged from 63.0% to 67.0% over the years. The Labour Force Survey Report (2022) conducted by DOSM reported that, in the fourth quarter 2022, it reached 69.5% of LFPR (16.54 million persons). It was the highest LFPR recorded since the first quarter 2020 (Q1 2020: 68.8%) but remained below its pre-pandemic ratio while the unemployment rate recorded 3.6% (600.5 million persons). This is shown in the Figure 1 and Figure 2. Figure 1 also shows that women’s low employment rate trend DISCUSSION & FINDINGS This section discusses important issues regarding empowering women and their participation in the decision making levels. It also analyses the possibility in narrowing down the gap of gender parity besides trying to understand the leadership empowerment among women by analyzing CEDAW Reports that were submitted by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (MWFCD). It is also to analyze the Global Gap Index 2022 published by the World Economic Forum to get an overview of performance by region on both sub-indexes, Economic participation and Opportunity and Political Empowerment. Hence, to relate the efforts and implementation of Malaysia MADANI concept towards women’s participation in decision making levels especially at the public sector. 115
