68 PENGARUH LITERASI KESIHATAN MENTAL DAN TEKANAN PSIKOLOGI KE ATAS SIKAP MENCARI BANTUAN PROFESIONAL PSIKOLOGI Megat Syaiful Izuddin Megat Mokhtar Faridah Abdul Jalil@Abas Intan Sofia Rafiee Nur Haniza Zainudin Pejabat Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Selangor ABSTRACT Prior research has mostly focused on the mental health of teenagers and young adults, with very few studies on workers. The main purpose of this study was to understand the influence of mental health literacy and psychological distress on professional psychological help-seeking attitudes among civil servants at Pentadbiran Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Selangor. The scale used to measure mental health literacy is the Mental Health Literacy Scale (MHLS). The Patient Health Questionnaire- 9 (PHQ-9) and General Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scales were used to measure the psychological distress experienced. Meanwhile, the Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help (ATSPPH) was used to measure the help-seeking attitudes of a person. A total of 8684 respondents answered the questionnaire using Google Forms. The findings of this study suggest that there is a positive relationship between mental health literacy and help-seeking attitudes. Psychological distress was also found to be positively associated with help-seeking attitudes. Findings from the multiple linear regression done using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS-27) suggested that both mental health literacy and psychological distress do influence help-seeking attitudes. These findings can give an overview of how these variables influence help-seeking attitudes. Overall, there is a need for more in- depth research on this study to strengthen the findings. KEYWORDS: mental health literacy, psychological distress, help- seeking attitudes
