This quantitative study involved 217 respondents and the data was obtained through questionnaire distribution using simple random sampling. The analysis was conducted by using Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0. In addition, descriptive analysis involving mean and percentage scores were used to investigate job stress as well as work engagement. The relationship between job stress and work engagement has been analysed by using inferential analysis through Pearson correlation. The results show that the level of job stress is low, while work engagement is high. The finding also shows that there is a moderate negative relationship between work stress and work engagement. Therefore, these findings could serve as a platform and initiation of psychoeducation programs such as stress management, wellness at work, providing counselling activities and other work-related programs to enhance work engagement. Implementing open-ended questions or interview sessions on the factors of work stress and work engagement are encouraged to explore in depth the insight of officers regarding these issues. This shows that Psychological officers play a big role in handling mental health issues and to help improve work wellness. KEYWORDS : work stress, work engagement, government sector
