The main objective of this study is to examine the influence of personality traits on work group cohesiveness in Malaysian football teams. The secondary objective is to identify differences in work group cohesiveness based on demographic factors, specifically age and player position. This study employs a quantitative research design. Descriptive analysis was conducted to examine the demographics of the sample, while inferential analysis which specifically regression analysis which was used to determine the influence of personality traits on work group cohesiveness. Additionally, ANOVA was conducted to assess differences in work group cohesiveness. The sample consists of 252 football players from the Premier League and Super League. This study utilized the NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) questionnaire and the Group Cohesiveness Scale. The collected data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26. The findings indicate a significant influence of the extraversion personality trait on work group cohesiveness (β = 0.151, t = 2.409, p < 0.05), a significant influence of the conscientiousness personality trait on work group cohesiveness (β = 0.160, t = 2.555, p < 0.05), and a significant influence of the openness personality trait on work group cohesiveness (β = 0.133, t = 2.128, p < 0.05). However, the results also indicate no significant differences in work group cohesiveness based on age and player position. Therefore, the findings of this study have implications for policies related to the selection of future football
